Textured Implant Announcement

We wish to inform you about recent information regarding BIOCELL® textured breast implants and their link to an extremely rare form of cancer.

The manufacturer (Allergan) has voluntarily recalled the textured BIOCELL® implant. For patients with existing BIOCELL® implants who choose to replace them with smooth implants in consultation with their plastic surgeon, Allergan will provide the replacement smooth implants at no charge. The program will run for 24 months and applies to revision surgeries performed on or after July 24, 2019. Allergan will not provide surgical fee assistance to patients with no symptoms of Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). The FDA and Allergan are recommending against removal of textured implants unless there are active issues or symptoms such as a new lump/mass, significant swelling on one side, or asymmetry. However, we realize that many patients may still choose to replace their implants. We understand your concerns and are willing to explain all of your options.
